Default Almost A Year Of 11 Psi On Stock Block, And...

Looks like I dropped a valve a month or so ago. My mechanic's been too busy to get working on it, but last week he took it all apart and saw one of my retainers had broken. Also, my valve guides had worn out. The head was taken off and sent to the machine shop to get done.

I'm thinking of getting a QTEC electronic exhaust cutout and dynoing it before and after the install. I wonder if an exhaust cutout would pick up a good chunk of power?

My mechanic friend said when he first installed my blower he had run the car with the exhaust off. He said that it was the second or third loudest car he'd ever heard.

How long does it take to open and close? I read it was 5 seconds. I was hoping it would be near instant. I'm going to wire it up to my AEM so that when I hit VTEC it will also open the valve. Maybe that would be a little too much for the local police...

its a lot less than 5 second maybe two. It sounds pretty sick, but attract so much attention on an s2000. The switch is a bit unique so I do not think it is possible to wire it that way. It is not a standard dpdt switch, the center is off and up is open and down is close. When not pressing the switch will return to center for off and will hold whatever position. Call Brian over there at QTP and explain to him what you are trying to do. They are very hands on and open minded. Good Luck

Cool!

Yeah, I'd use the switch too, but I'd also like the option to have my AEM control when it opened.

I guess I should hear how loud it is myself. No need to have it open up automatically if it is loud enough to sound like the world is coming to an end and attract every cop this side of Cassini.

No, and when it blew it was being driven at 3000 rpm.

Jason,

You said you dropped the valve a month or so ago, did you have any perticular noise from the engine at that time?

The reason I ask is I had a turbo kit fitted to my car some months ago and while its been at the tuners it has developed a V loud knocking/ticking noise particularly in + pressure, I've had them retard the timing and dump more fuel in via the AEM EMS & it ain't dettonation so I am concerned its a valve problem!!!!

Does any of this ring any bells or seem consistant with you?

Cheers

Andy
