Default Alternator Wiring

Hey everyone, yesterday my car died while driving and I made a post stating...

"So my car has been turbo for about 6 months now and I haven't had any issues. It's been running really wel and hasn't led me to worry about its driveability.

Today while driving my EPS light started flickering until it was fully lit, then followed the abs light. At this point my ears were perked up and about a half mile later the cluster went dark and almost immediately after the car started running like crap, like it wasn't getting enough fuel, I quickly parked and shut the car off not wanting to hurt anything. Once it was off I turned the ignition back on and everything appeared normal, but when I went to start it just clicked once and that was it. I tried again and noticed the fuel pump didn't prime like normal. I then push started the car and got it back on but running like crap, as soon as I left the parking lot the car shut off so I quickly popped the clutch, it started again and then immediately shut off.

I really have no idea what it could be and thought it was super odd. Any help is appreciated."

So since that time I have taken off the alternator and while doing so the black wire that is attached to the back actually broke in half because of how corroded it was. I also had the chance to have the alternator tested and found out it was only putting out 1.7v... yikes.

The point of this post is I realize that the black wire behind the alternator is apart of the main harness, my question is, is it tangled in with everything or is it a wire by itself, and if so what is it directly attached to so maybe I can just route a completely new wire. I have purchased some new wire and am planning to crimp/solder/rig/heat-shrink the alternator to the main harness but to be honest it kind of makes me nervous and would prefer to have brand new wire ran all by itself.

Any help is appreciated as I would prefer not to purchase a new main harness. Thanks

A service manual with alternator wiring diagram would prolly be best.

This may help:

I'm a little bit confused by that thread lol maybe it's just the wording. Are they saying the big black wire is the ground? Where is it grounded to if so
