alternator wont charge the battery
ok so here is the background to the story, my DD had a bad positive battery cable, it was rutted out, i didnt know this at the time that i tred to use my S to jump it off. well on the way home after a unsuccessfully trying to jump off my dd my S started to loose power, radio went off and the power steering went out. went to auto part store and they tested for the amps from the alternator it gave 10.3, so i biught a used oned that the seller claimed it worked and after installing it drove down the road and the same thing, no radio no powersteering after a while. so i bite the bullet and got a new one today, installed it and with in minutes same thing, made it to the parts store down the road and the brand new alternator said the same thing as the original one 10.2-10.3.
im going back to the part store tomorrow with all 3 to bench test them, but i was wondering if anyone has gone through this before and also if by some weird reason all 3 test out fine what else could it be? the battery is brand new OEM and the car never had this issue before until that day when i tryed to jump my DD with the rutted out positive battery cable.
once again if you didnt get to read all of it because you might be lazy.
original alternator read; 10.3 amps
new alternator read; 10.3 amops
and the battery is brand new OEM

Well what is the alternator supposed to read amp wise? is 10.3 good or bad?
Start by checking all fuses. You may have burnt one up trying to jump your DD.
Also what does "rutted out" mean? Rusted? corroded? Broken?

Here is an example of coincidence.
Friend of my dads had a nice lawn mower, one day he hit a rock.
It stopped working.
He gave it to my dad for free.
It had ran out of gas when he hit that rock.
we put gas in it, worked like a charm.
