am i burning oil?
One side of the dipstick will have more oil on it than the other side because it is at an angle. There can be oil on the sides of the dip stick chute days after the engine was last run.
When you check the oil level when the engine is warm, you are prolly picking up oil on the dip stick chute giving you a false reading.
I always go by the side of the dip stick that shows a lesser reading.
From my understanding when Honda built the AP1 engines they did not use a honing plate, which is necessary for proper honing to keep the cylinders in as much of a perfect cylindrical shape as possible. When you bolt the head down, the block may distort slightly, so to properly hone the block before putting the head on you use a honing plate that is about 1 or 2 inches thick and uses all the OEM mounting points and must be torqued to specs, this replicates the head and then you can bore the cylinder. Not doing so may cause the hone to lose symmetry, which is the main oil consumption problem IMO, if all this is true of course
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it.
