Default Am I just going crazy?...

Just wondering from all you s2k owners out there your feedback on the following.

I have an AP1 s2k and and its pretty much bone stock right now (with the exception of a K&N air filter), and when the car is idling, I can hear ticking from the spark plugs, its not too noticible until I am beside a wall of some sort (i.e. my garage or a car), and then I can hear the "ticking" alot louder, it definatly dosen't sound like a contact noise but rather a sparking noise. Is this normal and im just crazy or should it be looked at?

Let me know if you guys don't know what im talking about and i'll try to attach a sound clip.

I hear ticking on my car, but its from the metal of the exhaust tubing heating.

this is a very consistent and fast paced ticking, it sounds juts like the spark plugs igniting

I would lean toward valvetrain and not spark plugs its its a ticking from the enigine.

Look into geting a proper Valve adjustment.


My car makes so many noises now, creaks, rattles, etc.

Having super stiff shocks and metal sway bar links doesnt help.

They all go away when I put the top down.

yah u need a valve adjustment. ($95-$120)

Perhaps Timing Chain Tensioner???
Had the fast, constant tapping noise on my MY01, did a lot of research on this potential problem, replaced it, and now tons more quiet... Inexspensive...
Worth consideration... Could be valve adj. also...
How many miles/km you got???

100,000 kms.. its up there... ill take it into the factory for a valve adjustment... but what is a timing chain tensioner.. didnt know you could tension a chain... Do this at the factory as well?

the injectors are rather noisy, and they do make a ticking noise.

I don't recall it being that noisy when I bought it a year ago with only 72,000 kms on it.
