Default Amsoil Series 2000 75-90 Gear Oil

Hopefully, RoadRage will have some thoughts on this. When I get back to Dallas Thursday I plan to pull my differential and install Rick's 4.57 gears and AST carbon LSD. I'm planning to use Amsoil 2000 75-90 gear oil with their LSD additive. I've been using this lube in my current stock differential for the last 4000 miles with no problems. I also used it in a 400+ HP RX7 a few years back with good results. Any thoughts or comments?

You know LE is right there in Fort Worth. I'd swing buy and pick up some of that good old LE607.

According to RR, the LE607 can be had in bottles... but reading on what other's have posted, it might be hard to find. They sell that stuff in 25lb bottles otherwise. So if that's all they can get, you might find a few other owners to split it... have a diff oil change party.

I'm planning to use Amsoil 2000 75-90 gear oil with their LSD additive. Why the additive? If you still have the factory torsen there is no need for an additive.

i personally run amsoil 75w90 with my 4.77's, reinf. diff., and comptech sc. i did it all about 2 weeks ago, and haven't had any issues. and until the LE-607 came out, it was RR's diff fluid of choice which is why i got a few bottles. when i run out, i'll be switching to LE-607.

The Amsoil is a fine product, equivalent to RedLine's product. Again, there is a diff (no pun intended) between a multi-weight gear oil, even with a 90w rating, and the LE-607 straight weight. The latter has signficantly higher load bearing capability and does seem to lower diff temps - both are helpful in extending the life of overextended ring and pinion gears. You will need to experiment with FM addtives - I prefer Ford's to all others. Add half a bottle and see how the aftermarket diff performs, then add more if there is any binding or ratcheting.

I do not see what the fuss is about availability - Ricks2K is set up, and GaLubeDude is getting sponsorship of some kind as well. There seems to be plenty of this floating about - LE probably is excited about seeing their product in some vehicles smaller than a Peterbilt, or a rock crusher, etc.
