Another Diff question
hey guys, i've tried searching and can't seem to find my answer. I've noticed that the car tends to "jerk" a little when pushing the accellerator. It feels like the rear end is loose or needs to be adjusted. I've never messed with a diff before and wanted to ask how do you know when it needs adjustment or replacement. If you can adjust it, can i do this at home? The reason why I think there is a problem is i had the car on jack stands and with the car in gear, i can spin one rear tire about an inch before the opposite wheel starts to turn the opposite direction. There isnt any clunking sounds but it deff feels loose. Any information will help.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Does it jerk or shake on turns or straights? How many miles do you have what year is your S and did you recently or since this started happening attend an auto-x, Track Event or drive some super curvy roads for extended periods of time at high speeds?

Thanks for they replys fellas. The car has 130k miles. Never been on the track, and I don't snatch the gears. I do live on a curvy road and usually get in some play time before getting home =). Its become more noticable the past 6 months or so. It doesn't jerk around corner or anything like that, just seems like there is a lot of play when letting off the accelerator. I had thought about the mounts, either motor mounts or the transmission/diff mounts but didn't know how to tell if they were shot or not. Any thoughts?

Check the Transmission mount bolts and make sure it's torqued. Mines did the same thing and during a engine swap, I found out that the transmission bolts were only hand tighten. Also, if your car is lowered it can be your axles, and it can be fixed with axle spacers.
