Another misfire headache
So I plug my scanner and got the dreaded random misfire code, so I started with some things. First I checked the spark plugs and they all seem fine except cylinder #4 it was soaked with fuel. I then went ahead and checked all the valves for clearance they were all good, do you think the injector in cylinder #4 is shot, before I did this the symptoms were poping of the exhaust also before it warms up if I give it a little gas the car dies, and has trouble starting, I have to keep giving it gas and stays on once its warm it runs fine..... any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
Best thing to do first is going to be a compression test. See if your numbers are consistent throughout each cylinder. The compression range should not be more than 10% off each cylinder. Furthermore, out of most cars on this forum, compression results are between 200-240.
My misfire was due to a bad coil pack. I changed the plugs at the same time. Gap was present out of the box.
Compression was 210 psi across the board.
Symptoms were very stinky exhaust smell, rough idling, and doesn't hold idle if revved.
