Another miss shifting question

Angry Another miss shifting question

I was dumb enough to drop into 2nd gear with about 100km/h. engine rev up and tire chirp. i did not clutch out all the way and clucth back in as soon as i can(about 1-2 sec). i have a ap2. just wondering if there would be any damage to the car?

please give me some ideas.

Sorry man but please use the search. I think this entire forum consist's of 90% threads like yours.

For your peace of mind, a mechanical overrev rarely shows symp's. Being that you have an AP2, and the tires chirped, i could imagine no damage was done.

With that being said, your going to get nothing but different opinions from different people -- if anything. This question is so over-asked that it get's annoying.

Pull the cover and inspect the valves. Like i said, i think with an ap2 there havent been any retainers "walking" up the valve.

your 2nd gear goes to about 91km/h at 8000rpm if you let the clutch all the way out. Since you didn't, I imagine you didn't quite hit 100km/h. The Ap2 has stronger retainers than the Ap1 so I imagine you will be fine.

Thanks for all the input. the engine sounds fine and power is still there. i'll monitor on my enigne then.

Well there are typically no symptoms from an over rev.. sometime down the line you will just drop a valve and the engine will go boom. For piece of mind you can remove the valve cover and inspect the retainers, but from the description, I think you will be fine.
