I have no experience with this whatsoever, so please understand that I really have no clue about any of this.

My main question is what exactly is the big advantage over aluminum tubing? I've looked all over town and no one can weld aluminum for my intercooler. I have an aluminum BOV with aluminum flange and it looks like i have no choice but to go with steel tubing or whatever. If I did this, what would be the disadvantage? Sure I know aluminum is lighter, but what other effects would this have on performance? If it's drastic, I may have to try and find a place in Georgia or North Carolina...and I really don't want to look that far into it. I'm already tired of asking every place around here. I just find it hard to believe that no one can weld or bend aluminum. What disadvantages am I looking at here if I go along with the steel piping?

Thanks for any insight,
Dave

AL is lighter. Steal you can clamp on to tigher. Go get steal flanges for $20 from your BOV manufacturer.

Aliminum is the superoir material for intercooler piping. Its light and aluminum does not conduct heat as well as carbon or stainless steel. Therefore it keeps your charged air (after intercooler) cold
Aluminum is very tricky to weld since it puddles faster (softer) and is harder to work with. It must be tig welded and most places only have mig machines.
