Default Anyone else have a 6th gear grind?

So, my '02 S2000 has always had the infamous 1-->2 grind when cold. But this morning, it learned a new trick - the 6th gear grind when cold.

I had just gotten on the freeway and shifted from 5th to 6th. The stick didn't fully go into the 6th gear gate, so I pushed it a bit more. That's when I got a nice loud grind. It went into 6th without issue when I pushed it again.

Does anyone get grinding in any gear other than 2nd when the car is cold?

Just curious... I do plan to get my car checked out when I get a chance. All gears shift fine once the car is warmed up. The clutch was pushed down when all this happened, and the transmission and clutch fluid have been changed within the last 5k miles.

I only had the grind from 1 to 2 when cold. My friend races cars and said to press the clutch all the way to the floor, haven't had a problem since. Not a expert but hope this helps.

No, I never skip gears when upshifting. I've read about the issue you have in mind on S2Ki... The symptoms sound somewhat similar, but I've never skipped from 4th to 6th or anything like that, so the usual cause isn't present in my case.

ok well then skip shift theory out the door.

have you ever grinded 6th gear? any problems with "sticky" movements when trying to shift to 6th?

i think almost everyone has the 1-2 grind when cold.....and the shifter is notchy and not as smooth when cold......but from what you're saying it seems like you should get it checked out.

I have an 02 and NEVER get the 1-2 grind. Ever. I've had it maybe once or twice while redlining 1st and shifting to 2nd, but NEVER when cold or whatever. it always shifts beautifully for me regardless of temp... even in -10 F weather.
