that's probably the best guess so far but i would think they would use a digital angle meter or something for that.

so that's just the height sensor, but how does the whole system work together.

Lol, Im assuming it has some electronic damper or airbags or something. Seeing the sensor, it'll adjust dampening accordingly, is what my guess will be.

It IS the headlight auto adjust sensor.
No doubt
The sensor (most likely a potentiometer) gives a voltage signal between 0.4V and 4.6V to the control unit.
The control unit adjusts the headlights.
