Hi S2KIrishman,

I did it as per the DIY on this site. Steps below
Disconnected the battery,
Took all the coilpacks off,
took out the fuelling fuse,
took out all 4 spark plugs
screwed the compression tester into the first spark plug hole and cranked it 10 times
then the same in the 2nd port
then 3rd
and 4th

then i did them all again to make sure it was right. results were as i say, 100-95-92-97

I regapped the spark plugs to 1mm although i will replace them with new NGK asap next week when the shops are open. I also gave them a rub over with a small wire brush to get the carbon off.

When i put them back in, i reversed the order of the spark plugs but kept the coil packs in the same ports they came from.

I reset the ecu as well once i had put everything back together.

Now i have reset the engine light and driven about 5 miles and its driving ALOT better than before but still does have the misfire at low revs and especially if its in a high gear i.e. 4th /5th at low speed and i open the throttle fully. This is when it misfires badly. The light hasn;t come back on yet but when/if it does i will see if the codes change. if they do it must be the spark plugs

So... Any thoughts or ideas about the LOW compression readings? Not heard of sub 100 on any threads

Thanks

Matt

This may sound random-- but the weather where you live-- is it cold and snowy?
Sounds EXACTLY like a problem my friend experienced when his CAI filter became clogged with snow/ice...

hi jim,

I live in London. Was pretty nippy when it all started to happen but its been about 5 - 12°C for the last few weeks so would think it would be defrosted by now? Think its worth taking the filter off and doing a compression test? is that risky?

Thanks

Matt
