Default AP1 Flywheel or Aftermarket.

I will be replacing the clutch in my Ap2 this winter, i can get a decent used ap1 flywheel for around a hundred bucks. My question is, is there a down fall to going to a lighter flywheel then the ap1? just to save another 5 or 6 lbs on an aftermarket flywheel? Any recommendations on a clutch?

Thanks guys!

I highly recommend getting the ap1 flywheel. It's perfect. I went with the ACT clutch, OEM disc and AP1 flywheel with AP1 slave cyl in both my ap2s. Perfect setup makes the car drive and feel like a proper sports car.

Driving with different weight flywheels makes a surprising difference and the reaction varies with driver. I personally think the car feels much better with a lighter flywheel and have a Toda in my car.

You're going through the trouble of taking your transmission off to install a flywheel. Spend a little more and get an aftermarket flywheel now rather then going through the trouble again later. I never understood why people swap parts between diff models of a car. You install someone's AP1 flywheel, and they go install a lighter aftermarket one. Hmm I wonder who just benefited more?

I've tried multiple, and I can tell you that a good lightweight aftermarket one is a better improvement over the AP1.

Definitely just go with the AP1 flywheel. You can probably find one cheap because of the point HvRRZ brought up.

Thanks guys for all the feedback, i just recently purchased my s2000 so if some of my questions seem kind of ignorant i apologize. I love the s2000.. but as it sits factory, just should feel more agressive when going through gears.

So ap1 flywheel
Factory Honda Disc
Ap1 Slave
and act pressure plate.
