ap1 gas GUZZLER?
hey I live in toronto and drive in modereate traffic (mostly highway) and I always get close to 400 +/- km's per tank... I know some people get well over 450km/tank? Whys is killing more gas than my turbo b16? also, i am currently using mobil1 synthetic 10w30, and that eats oil like no tomorrow.
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks in advance.

I would highly recommend "krank vents" for the oil consumption. It cut mine down to non-existant. Do a search and you can mmake your own for less than half of what they charge. I did and mine are still working great. I use less than a quart between changes now and before it was almost 2.5. I can't help you with the gas comsumption though. Maybe less vtec? (I know its addicting,
)

Sounds interesting, never heard of "crank vents" i guess ill look it up on the DIY forum. Do you suggest mobil1 syn or just regular 10w30? And as for vtec'ing, I am very addicted lol, but for a couple of tanks i cut down just to see what milage i would get, not too much of a dif.
I run 5w30 myself and have run 10w30. I don't feel that 5w30 "protects less," if anything I think it runs a bit smoother, but maybe that's just going from old, used oil to fresh stuff. I do used Mobil 1 now and have used Redline and Amsoil. I think I am going to stick with Mobil 1 for its good rep (Redline and Amsoil also have good rep), and its availability. Do you cruise in 6th on the highway and what are the speeds you cruise at?

i cruise on 6th going 120. and shift at 3.5-4k at every gear (granny shifting -.-)
??? try not to hammer it going on the on ramps.
Assuming you're not driving it hard, you might have a compression problem. You may want to consider getting a compression and leakdown test. This will tell you if you have poor compression in one or more cylinders that could be causing your problem.
When I do a lot of highway driving, I commonly get over 480 kilometers per tank. But "kilometers per tank" isn't a very good way of measuring your fuel economy. You should consider writing down your odometer gauge on the receipt each time you fill the tank. Then subtract the mileage on the previous recipt and divide by the liters of gas purchased, and you will get the Kilometers Per Liter for that tank. Do that each time, and over time you will get a good measure of your fuel economy. But you shouldn't look at just one or two tanks of gas and make an assumption.
I use Amsoil 0W-30. This will give me better fuel economy when the engine is warming up, and (IMO) is better for my engine. Mobil 1 10W-30 is good stuff, however you may want to consider something like Mobil 1 5W-30.

Come on now... really... am I the only one that finds this thread silly?
You own a sports car with perhaps the best 4 cylinder engine ever made. It deserves and craves spirited driving.
If you are that worried about gas mileage, perhaps get a hybrid... at least they still give good low end torque.

ive had my share of driving hard and would just like to see how it can do as an "econobox" lol. Other than that, I guess the % of throttle i press while accel. really varies the km/L i would get. Looks like i have to see after a couple of more fills.
anyone mind telling me their km/L or km/Tank of their hard driving v.s granny driving?
thanks for the feedback guys.
