Default AP1 Intake Cam

So searching around i learned that the F20c intake cam has an advantage over the F22. I also learned that the ap1 intake cam in a F22 head is ideal for FI applications. Anyways i aslo learned that if you were to put the IP 3mm HG on your engine you would need to adjust the cam timing.

cam adjustment

Basically i just want to make sure that even though the F20 intake cam is on a F22 head, i would still have to make the timing adjustments to compensate for the thicker HG regardless of cam.

Thanks

Of course. The head is sitting 2.3mm higher regardless of the cam.

Im sure it would have benefits N/A also, given the AP1 intake cam has higher lift and longer duration.

cam specs
the stock specs are at the bottom.

Wait, so is the adjustment the same? In the DIY the guy mentioned that the cam gear had to rotated a certain amount. I don't remember what the exact number was but is it the same amount of rotation regardless of cam?

It really has nothing to do with the cam. You are raising the head 2.3mm. This means the top scissor gear is 2.3mm (probably about 2 degrees) out of phase.

If you read carefully the cam gear mod instructions you'll note that there is no adjustment as such. The scissor gear and timing chain pulley are held together by three bolts, but located with a pin. Removal of this pin allows a bit of play but not much. You simply remove the pin, refit the bolts, and then taking advantage of the play clock the chain sprocket clockwise a little and tighten the bolts. Probably gets you 1 degree closer to true.

Seriously, you're overcomplicating it.

Also, for the record. There is only 1 S2000 Head. They are all the same. It is what is in the head that makes them differant.

Note: Only the 06+ head is differant. But only in the emissions porets, etc..
