Yeah my 2003 ap1 is not going up 9k it revs out 8k in first gear. what do you guys think it is? im thinking timing cause i did do a rebulid on the engine due to a spun bearing. i really appreciate input

 

who did the rebuild?
check engine light on?
what happens at 8,000 rpms?

 

honda did the engine rebuild... no check engine light and at 8000 rpms it just sound like it hits the limiter.. just drove it and it does it in second and third gear also. it have 600 miles on the motor since the rebuild.

 

humm......rebuilt engines.....dont u need to break them in...you shouldnt really hitting that high rev yet...

 

yeah i understand but how long is a proper break in? isnt 600 without vtec reasonable.

 

was the engine cold?

when it's cold.. it restricts at 6k right?

 

yeah it restricts @ 6k right before vtec when engine is cold. but the engine was warm.

 

i would say give it another 400 then make a move, 8k for a rebuilt engine is high but it is newly rebuilt maybe it just needs a couple more miles

 

well I guess 400 more miles is worth a shot and I will give it a oil change. but what you guys think the worst case senario is?

 

hehh. maybe they rebuilt your engine and stuck in a AP2 ecu?
