Default AP1 sat in a garage for a year

Due to business travel, my buddy left is AP1 sitting in the garage for a year and did not run during that time. We recently started the car.. which at first attempt started well but did not hold the idle at 1000 rpm. I was able to drive the car around the block for about 1/8 mile and just died. The car ran pretty well considering that it sat in the garage for a year.

When started again, it essentially died without having the gas pedal pressed to sustain the said rpm. The engine when in idle does run well without any stall, however it does not hold the idle so it is difficult to pinpoint what needs to be done. I imagine at the least we would need to replace the battery.. are there any other steps of troubleshooting I would need to take?

Do I need to have the fuel lines flushed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. btw the fuel had some sta-bil fluid in the gas tank prior to him leaving on his business trip.

Thanks

Mine usually sits for about 6 or 7 months every year (winter). Before I start driving it again, I make sure to change the oil and I usually change all the other fluids as well.

Go have the battery tested to see if it needs to be replaced. Sometimes it just needs to be charged up again.

Give it a week or so. Once everything becomes lubricated again, it'll run fine. All the oil has had plenty of time to drain down, so everything up at the top is going to be deprived (one of the reasons I change the oil).

The engine is fully lubricated within the first couple seconds of starting up. Giving it a week to "become lubricated" is ridiculous.

Sta-bil is gas stabilizer. I'm 95% sure the battery is dead.

Change the battery or have it checked and fill it up with fresh fuel.
I also agree after few hours of operation everything should be fine.

You should try the idle relearn. If its been sitting for a long time it needs to relearn how to idle because it's still configured for whatever the temps and conditions were when it was stored. It usually helps mine when its not been ran for awhile. Either that or it will relearn on its own after a few days of driving around. You could try that, it doesn't take long and plus it's free.

Idle relearn? Sorry, not sure what that means.. So if the battery is at 0% capacity, wouldn't the alternator take over once it's jump started?

Thanks

Great, thanks. I will purchase a new battery and go from there. Will keep everyone posted.

btw- I don't think we would have any issues with winter/summer since the weather is somewhat constant here in southern cal. If anyone could input, that would be great.

Thanks all
