Cute. That's what a brand new NGK/Honda S2000 tailored plug comes at right out of the box.

Yeah, .039 is just the low end of the recommended range on our plugs and shouldn't be a problem unless it was fouled to get to that gap. I typically run .036 to .038 on my supercharged S but I don't go into high boost all that often anymore after having it boosted for 10 years. It seems to run just fine with a lowered gap. I do change my plugs every 2 or 3 years (~15K - 20K miles) to ensure the performance stays optimal.
With the exception of guys like "Billman" and "Slow", I enjoy reading about the antics of professional mechanics.

Well, i might have the numbers wrong hehe, he measured the new one and there was a difference. He could tell by looking at them. As regarding the mechanics, he's been in business for 40 years maintaining most of my parent's and now, my cars. I have faith in him and it's probably me reporting wrong numbers

He's probably just comparing it to the wrong type of spark plug.

40 years experience with other cars = about 6 months experience with an S2000. We've seen it time and time again. "Ace" car mechanics screwing up S2000s and it's STILL happening. When the Honda service adviser says, "We'll put our best tech on your S2000." That's the time to RUN.

Man, its like the S2000 mechanic superstars up in this thread. I always enjoy reading the back-and-forth that happens when Billman and/or xviper are involved. Thanks for the info guys.
