AP1 Throttle Body on an AP2 Engine with AP1 ECU ?
My car had been running like crap (stalling at nearly every light, or even when I took my foot off the gas to slow down on the highway) for several months (Since Nov., 2005) and even though I have an extended warranty ... I also have an '04 engine in an '01 vehicle (hasta la vista warranty -- Bye Bye
) I really could not use it .
So I have only driven my car once since November 2005, but don't get me wrong... when the engine swap was first done the car ran wonderfully, and did so for at least 3000 miles.
Today I started switching sensors from my AP1 engine (which I still have) to the AP2 engine (which is in mycar).
Switching the throttle body from the AP1 engine to the AP2 engine solved the problem . I suspect that there was something wrong with the throttle body on the AP2 engine. The car now starts and runs flawlessly, as it did for the first 8 months after the '04 engine was installed.
Now here is my question : Are the throttle bodies switchaable between AP1 and AP2 engines ? Are they the same part number ? Interchangeable ? OR will I face other, larger problems, if I continue to drive with the AP1 throttle body on the AP2 engine with the AP1 ECU ???
Thanks for any insight .

By part number they look to be differant. Here are the part numbers by year.
MY05 16400-PZX-A01
MY04 16400-PZX-A01
MY03 16400-PCX-A01
MY02 16400-PCX-A01
MY01 16400-PCX-A01
MY00 16400-PCX-A01
I had a simlar issue. Turned out to be the ROTARY AIR CONTROL (#6). I was dirty and that gummed up the works of the valve.

Thanks for the reply ... the AP2 TB/TPS was on the AP2 engine and it was not running well at all. BUT -- it was not that way when the engine was first installed ... it ran great . I suspect that it has nothing to do with the fact that it is an AP2 engine with an AP1 ecu. The TB/TPS simply crapped out.
NOW the AP1 TB/TPS is installed in the AP2 engine and it is running like a charm. Hopefully it will stay that way.
I started the day by swapping the ROTARY AIR CONTROL , and it made no difference. The next thing I did was to swap out the water temp. sensor at the back of the engine (because the problem seemed to take place after the car warmed up) and it also made no difference.
When I swapped theTB/TPS I could feel the difference immediately. It was as if the car had gotten a shot of adrenaline.
It would be interesting to see what the difference in the TB/TPS is between the AP1 and the AP2 .
Thanks for your help !!

I would think the idle air control valves may be different. And when your at idle or decel the ap2 idle air control valve isnt opening enough with the ap1 ecu's signal. Just a thought! But like Stratocaster said "if its running good now, let it go"
