Yes, a number of members have done this. Shouldn't need many parts if any.

Yes, you can put an AP2 motor into your AP1. I believe that it would be the same as swapping out your motor for another F20c, except it has a different ECU. There are two Metro guys, which have done this swap and are still using the AP1 ECU. Just something to think about.

I put an AP2 in my '00 S2k race car. Very little that's different, but I'd definitely get an AP2 ECU. (You'll need to have a Honda dealer match your key with the new ECU though, or the car won't start)

The AP1 ECU has too high a redline, and you're asking for a blown motor if you stick with it. (I have an extra '04 ECU if you need it)

Another option is to go with an aftermarket EMS instead. We did that on the race car and have the fuel cutoff redline set to 8400. (The timing starts to retard at 8300)

You'll love the extra torque an AP2 affords, but you'll miss that 9k redline.

thanks for the info! very helpful, how much do you want for the 04 ecu and will the 01 harness work with it.

I am still in the process of deciding what i want to do, im about

30% going to put a cheap ap1 motor in it and sell it
40% put a ap2 motor in and keep it a few more years
30% put a inline pro storker motor in it and keep it perm.

I love the s2k but i ride my bike almost everywhere during the 9 warmest months of the year and the S2k sucks for a winter car only.

if you're putting the ap2 motor into your car, be certain you put an ap2 trany in there as well! otherwise you'll actually be a bit slower than a regular stock S2k.

I'd stick with the closer-ratio AP1 transmission, and of course the AP1's lighter-weight flywheel. I'd just go with the '01 ECU as well, and not make it too much a habit of taking it above ~8500 or so.

I have heard the ap2 tranny has shorter 1st to give you faster takeoffs and a tigher 1-4 and a bigger jump to 5-6 for highway.
