Thumbs up AP2 - Cruise Control Question

Trying to figure out if there's something wrong with my cruise control or this is just how it works on the S2000. When I engage the CC for the first time, I feel it pull the pedal down and maintain the speed I want. If I cancel the setting or disengage the CC for any reason and re-engage it, the car slows down a few mph's and then accelerates to the speed I have set.

What's the deal here?

its normal since the throttle uses cable. If it was DBW you wouldnt feel anything since its electronic.

I understand that because there is a physical throttle cable, I will feel the pedal move when I engage the CC, but I can't understand why sometimes it engages immediately and other times it will allow the car to slow down and then accelerate it to the speed I've set.

There is a set-up procedure for the CC module. I had taken mine out for some work and when I reinstalled it I had issues where it couldn't maintain speed and do things similar to what you described. I looked it up in the shop manual, re did the cable to the module and it was all good after that.

Silver, what cable did you have to re-do after installing your CC?

The one that conects to the CC module it. Our cars (2005 here also) are not DBW AP2s (YESSSS!!!!) so they use a throttle cable to also control speed when using CC. The adjustment of the cable (slack) controls how the CC is applied and how easily the module can control speed. I had mine to tight so it was very jerky and couldn't maintain speed well at all. Once I adjusted the amount of slack in to the cable correctly it works great.

I can get the directions later this evening if needed. Just got to pull out the shop manual...
