Default AP2 - rpm not dropping as fast as AP1 on upshift?

I've been driving an AP2 the last few days and have notice a few differences. One was that on upshifts the AP2 revs do not drop as fast as the AP1.

It seems like when you are off the throttle, the revs seems to hold for second or so and then start dropping. Not sure if this is common for all AP2.

Generally, holding revs is a consequnece of a heavier rotating assembly (heavier crank/rods/pistons/flywheel/balancer). It would make sense that an AP2 would have heavier internals than an AP1 as it has more displacement... I dont know if the flywheel and balancer are also heavier.

What do you think of the AP2 after driving it for a couple days?

The AP2 seems to have a bit more pull down low but then it doesn't pull as hard as my AP2 in vtec. Then again I have a snorkel, test pipe and exhaust. The AP2 would be a good daily driver and the AP1 weekend car since my AP1 is lowered on coilovers.

Overall the AP2 is a bit more refined, but I like the raw nature of the AP1. That is why I say the AP2 would be a good DD and AP1 as the weekend car.

You mention that you have a test pipe and exhaust on your AP2 ( I think you ment AP1). That may be why you feel the engine in the AP2 holds the revs longer. Without the back pressure of the cat, I felt my revs dropped quicker between shift.

Is the AP2 an '06? I find the DBW on my TSX to be a bit annoying with a slight hold to engine speed after releasing the gas as well as doing something when at full throttle and shifting (it bucks as if the throttle isn't responding quite fast enough to understand a quick shift)...

I have found that the DBW system on my 06 responds just as a normal throttle cable should. only other car i have driven with dbw and manual tranny is the 06 civic si and that felt horrible. between shifts it would hold the idle for like half a second and totally screw up any chance of a smooth shift.

Yep, had the exact same behavior on the '04 I used to own. Once revs started dropping, it seemed to happen just as fast as in the AP1 - there was just that delay, as you say.

Are you talking about the clutch slave master cylinder delay? I know that that can be removed, I just haven't spent the time to do it. I might be mis-reading the question, and i have only riden in an AP1, I have not ever drove one. I might be on the wrong field on this one.

It's the slave cylinder delay valve that was added to the AP2 slave. Remove it and all will be well. The longer you wait, the longer the clutch will deteriorate.
