Default ap2 transmission on ap1 - clutch questions

Hi all

I am going to be putting the ap2 transmission on 2001 s2000 soon. I realize it is convenient to replace the clutch at the same time.

My questions are these:

Is it better to use 04+ clutch as opposed to 00-03 with the new tranny? Are they even different?

Is a new flywheel/pp recommended at the same time?

Is it alright to buy these parts used?

Are 00-03 / 04+ pieces compatible? (ie '01 flywheel with 04 clutch, etc)

I am looking for advice on what components to replace and why

thanks

The clutch is the same.Just make sure to install the updated friction disk if you have not previously done so.You will need to swap the conpanion flange from you're old trans to the new one.Thats about it.

By updated friction disk, do you mean 04+ disk?

The updated disc is a newer part the was used to eliminate the clutch buzz sound common to the earlier cars.It costs around $100.00 from the dealer.I beleive that my 02 and up already came with this part.

I did an AP2 transmission swap last fall at about 63k miles. I did the Hardtopguy clutch kit while I was at it, but I'm glad I did. My stock clutch disc was DONE. There was only a tiny, paper-thin, bit of friction material left.

Don't forget that you need to change the output flange of the tranny to mate up with the 2001 driveshaft.

Both the tranny and differential flanges are different.

The only kit I find on his site is for ~1,000. Are you talking about a different one?
