If you are going to spend all that money and time to go boost why not spend the extra and go titanium retainers for added insurance.

Titanium retainers are not even in the same realm as AP2 retainers when it comes to long term reliability.

They will not go the distance, that is a proven fact. Why so many people recommend them is beyond me.

If youre boosting a car it will need to be rebuilt again in its lifetime anyway. you dont throw and turbo on and say, well that will last forever. I have never seen a boosted car need no other maintenance after its built.

I'm back and forth on ap2 retainers for exhaust or ap1. Billmans points do seem pretty on point. I remember him saying that you will bend a valve before u crack a ap1 exhaust retainer and I've seen a thread with just that happened.

And just because honda went with ap2 exhaust retainers in 04+ f20cs, doesn't mean it was the better move just because they are honda. I mean look at all the issues our cars have lol. Little ones, but we all love the car so it's all worth it.

I will be changing my order to ap1 exhaust and ap2 intake.

Where did you hear that Honda went to AP2 retainers in the UK AP2 cars? I hadn't heard that they actually changed anything internally. Thought it was just a facelift of the exterior and suspension parts.

I'm almost positive that I read the retainers are basically considered 2.0 liter retainers and 2.2 liter retainers, so the retainers stayed the same for all F20 models.

The parts numbers are the same in a 2005 EDM f20c2 and a USDM 2005 f22c.

You can just look at a European parts site and the part numbers are for the newer ap2 retainers In the f20c2.

14765-PRB-A01 is the newer retainer
14765-PCX-000 is the old retainer

#7 below is the new retainer part #
