Default Automatic Tensioner

Through some diagnostic testing by myself and a reliable mechanic, we've determined that my automatic tensioner is failing, and is causing noise when the engine is running.

I am JUST out of my basic warranty, but still well within my powertrain warranty.

Is the tensioner covered by the powertrain warranty? I have looked through the warranty booklet, and it is not specifically mentioned, but the tensioner is vital to the engine's function, and the warranty booklet also states "other parts may be covered."

Can anyone confirm/deny for sure?

To be more specific on the noise involved, when the mechanic applies a torque to the bolt holding the pully on the auto-tensioner, the noise completely goes away. His recommendation was to see if it was covered under warranty, and also recommended that the idler pully as well as the auto-tensioner be replaced. Water pump was not involved in the noise at all.

#7 is the bolt that the torque is applied to to make the noise go away.

It's for sure should be covered by powertrain warranty.
I had problems with my chain tensioner (not your case but anyway) and dealer changed it with no questions.

I see you have a 2008 so the tensioner should be covered by your bumper-to-bumper warranty (36 months or 36,000 miles). However, your powertrain warranty (60 months or 60,000 miles) only covers engine and transmission parts that are lubricated by oil.
