Default Awful smell coming from the S

This just started on my drive home today. Noticed it at a stop light close to home and again in the garage.
It's an overpowering chemical smell like a nail salon or something.

I popped the hood and didn't seem like it was coming from there. Nothing in the trunk. I had the windows open and didn't smell it while the car was moving so I don't think it was coming in via the vents.
The passenger side of the car recently got some paint. That was about 2 weeks ago tho and I haven't smelled this before. Any chance that's the source? This was the first time the car has been in the sun since I got it back.

Don't think I've ever smelled cooked brakes. So couldn't say. But I'll take a look.

Just feel the wheels if one is much hotter then the other then most likely that could be the problem.

Car hasn't moved in a couple hours. I went out to the garage and immediately smelled gas. Probably what I was smelling earlier. Dunno why it smelled more like paint thinner earlier.

No obvious spots on the top of the motor and nothing under the car. Tomorrow will be fun.

Did you recently fill up? Maybe the gas cap is just loose?

And so nobody feels like they've wasted their time with this post, here's a pic of the S today sporting a new Robbins glass conversion stayfast top, which was installed today. I checked the fill tube to make sure the installer didn't step on it or anything. Seems fine.

Could it just be the smell of the new top?

Filled up a week ago and I'm pretty good about 6 clicks.

No. I sniffed the top and I would have noticed this when taking it out of the box this morning.

Hmm, if it WAS gas you smelled, I've smelled gas that smells all sorts of weird depending on its condition. (Bad, contaminated, etc) Good luck figuring it out. Hopefully it's something simple.
