Let it idle in the garage for 15 minutes or so today. No smell.
Really wish there was a puddle or something for me to go from.

Sometimes when a cat is going bad you'll get this aweful rotten egg smell. Often it comes and goes.

Could it have been this smell?

Maybe somebody spilled something on the street and you ran over it. If the smell doesn't come back, that could be what happened.

Sometimes I get a strong brake smell from my drivers side front caliper when braking a lot. It goes away though and doesent happen when not hoofing it. I just figured as its on my side at the front, its the brake that has to work the hardest due to my mass on that corner of the car.

If you run the car hard and its hot out, the car will go rich and you'll smell that for a while too.

Back with the same smell. I replaced the gas cap and thought that took care of it months ago. Hasn't been driven in a long time. Was fine the last few days. Got home from work today and it was bad. May be more likely to happen when it's hot and/or lots of stop and go traffic.
Same paint thinner kinda smell coming from the rear. Smells strongest in the wheel wells. Doesn't smell like it's coming from the cap. Again, no wet spots at all.

Got a catalytic converter in the car? Exhaust will stink if you don't. Any exhaust leak before the cat will smell too.
