Default Bad CV joint

Have a clicking/groaning noise comming from right rear wheel. After 3 trips to the Dealer they have finally narrowed it down to a bad outer CV joint. Cost to replace rear axle is around $700. Anyone else here have that problem?

Does spinning out (not that I ever do that ) do damage to CV joints? I remember Arnaud telling me he damaged the CV joints on his Exige when he spun behind me at B-willow.

TIA (sorry... too lazy to use search function)

Outer CV joint + boot kit $220.50

Labor? Who knows. No need to replace the whole axle unless you suspect it's bad for some reason.

Yes, it's happened before. Do a search

Thanks J.P.

It says it's a common wear item for cars that are driven "competitively"... LOL... what's my excuse?

I didn't say you had to be fast, just make lots of noise and smoke

The Driveshaftshop now makes upgraded axles for the S2000. I have a set at home waiting for me to install them and test them out. Unfortunately, someone f*cked up my car yesterday in a parking lot (pics) so I might not get a chance to install them for a couple more weeks yet. I forget the exact weight difference, but they're only like 1.5-2 lbs lighter per axle. The main advantage is supposed to be durabiliity.

click here for the rest of the pictures of the new axles
