Default Ball joint problem

Hello guys
Recently working on the suspension works and removed the front upper control arms, after a hard time separating the arms from the hub, the arms finally pop up!

However, when i try to remove the nut that was used to protect the thread of the ball joint, it turns out that the nut is actually rotate with the ball joint body, Ihave to use a plier to hold the body in place to take the nut out

Given the nut will be rotate with the ball joint body, how can i tighten the castle nut when i put the arms back on?? Both of my upper arms are doing the same thing, should i assume it is normal?

Please give me some advise , guys
Thanks you!

they will spin like you're describing, its normal. Just spray some lubricant on the threads of the ball joint before you put the nut back on.

Lets hope you didn't damage the tapered part of the ball joint with the pliers.

When installing, keep the tapered part clean, on both the ball joint and in the knuckle.
Keep some pressure on the joint towards the knuckle, the tapered parts will "grip" and you can tighten the castle nut to spec.
Start with 49Nm and then tighten further to line-up the castle with the hole.
(max 59Nm according to the manual)

I spray the socket and stud clean with brake-cleen. You can tap the top of the balljoint with rubber mallet when it starts to spin. Never-seize the threads.

Sounds like you were hitting the nut with the hammer.
