Battery Heat Shield Rusty - Replacement
My battery heat shield is very rusty and I would like to replace it. I wonder what would have caused that? I've searched for Shield, battery, battery heat shield and just heat shield, yet I'm not finding the part number. Does anyone have this part number handy?
Thanks,
Thanks,

are you referring to the one between the engine and the battery? if so thats an exhaust shield and there are aftermarket options available pretty cheap as well as im sure there are people willing to sell their stock ones

Thank you, both of you. Of course it is logical, when you know the name they gave it. I appreciate your quick response. This is a very helpful group. Thanks again.

Probably no salt on any roads in the desert where I live. Yet years ago we were up north in Alpine country. It’s possible that some salt might have been present. I never noticed a battery leaking, either, so that’s my dilemma. I’ll replace it with an OEM and fresh bolts. Thanks for your help. 247Hondaparts.com to the rescue. The parts is on back order, yet I am told to expect delivery around June 5.

Curious how that could have happened. Is the undercarriage generally clean? If so, battery leakage seems a likely culprit, no?
I have often wondered about deleting that shield completely. It gets in the way.

I wouldn't delete it. It shields heat away from the A/C lines, battery and fuse box.

If memory serves me from seeing it the other day, I think some of that acid got down onto that little section of cross beam as well and might need to be cleaned up too (stripped, primered, painted) to prevent continued corrosion (as you're looking straight down between the heat shield and battery). You should post a pic, I've never seen that happen before if it is in fact battery corrosion. Only time I've seen something similar is with spilled brake fluid, but that's on the other side of the engine bay... and I know as I've spilled a little on the black brake booster and it ate the black paint away and rusted the entire contact area... within 12 hours!
But I digress, you may want to lift your battery as well and look as I saw some corrosion on the back edge under the plate.
