Default Battery Issues (Optima yellowtop)

I have an Optima D51R yellowtop that was relocated to my trunk. Recently my car is having starting issues. Sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. When it won't I jump it off another car and it starts up first crank. Leads me to believe it's the battery going bad. I took the battery to autozone tonight and they tested it and said it was good. Could it just be the battery is going bad is is it another issue? Please help!!

I had the same issue with a yellow top optima battery, I changed it with a red top and it was fine after that. I would say it's the battery.

The yellow top is an agm battery. Sometimes they can have bad cells which would still give the reading of a good battery. But break down over time. Go to advance auto and have them test the battery. Autozone uses a cheaper less accurate tester (at least at the stores around me) get the second opinion. My yellow top is 3 years old and still putting out 700cca which is 200 more than required for the car.

I have seen that battery problems are pretty common with the S2000 and quite often it is because without regular driving the cycles of deep draw and full recharge take a tole and shorten life. The key for those that don't drive regularly is a trickle charger. This may not be the OP problem but it happens often... I bought a yellow top from a member that had to replace it and wound up with a spare on warranty and in three years it has been good going on the trickle charger anytime the car won't be driven for a week or more.

Ditch the Optima and get a battery from walmart, interstate, or a parts store of your choice. They will all be cheaper and more reliable than any optima. Optima is all marketing. With maybe just a few exceptions, all of the traditional style batteries are made by just two companies so it really doesn't matter that much which one you get.
