Default Battery leaking problems

Hi,

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had two batteries crack and leak acid all over the engine bay. We have cleaned it up twice and I would rather not go through this again. The 2nd battery that cracked was an interstate battery and the first one I can't remember the brand. Is this because of bad batteries or from the brackets that secure the battery? Is the OEM battery hardier? I never had this problem when the OEM battery was in place. Also, I live in California so I don't have any cold issues.

I do autocross alot but have not had this problem until recently.

Thanks,

Kathy

Do you have the heat shield in place between the battery and the engine? Engine heat could be cooking the plastic case.

Check to see if the alternator is overcharging. Much over 15V cooks batteries

Yes I do have the heat shield in place. It had to be repainted though due to the acid.
