Battery problem - drains too fast

if the optima is still testing good after being charged I would keep it. Ive seen them last 7+ years

i just bought it last month. it came with 3 year warranty...

btw: does anybody have some idea about how much it costs to remove a typical aftermarket security system in S2k?

The battery will not discharge if not connected,,, Kinda like it's sitting on the shelf. Always disconnect the Negative pole. Always.

(There is some self discharge but it's minor in temperate weather.)

Yeah, just pull the alarm fuse. Don't uninstall the whole thing...

had a mechanic check the alternator and some other stuff and found no problem. Then had the entire alarm system removed.

Hopefully that solved the problem

When my last battery died it was out in the world...i called csaa and they brought me a battery, it works perfectly, don't even know the specs.
a while ago someone did not close the passenger door and the light was on for days, dead battery, took a jump fine and works well, i did get a trickle charger, maybe $40.00 which I used to top it off, i only drive maybe 3-4k a year so it is not driven daily, but it works just fine without the trickle...do not leave your keys in the car, the car will think about that and it will drain the battery as well.
