Default Beaten Up Oil Consumption

My car is a 02 and has 2200 miles on it and so far has eaten up one quart of oil. Is this normal? Seems a bit too much. I've been monitoring the oil level weekly and searched the threads.. I know s2k's eat oil but a quart in less than 3k miles? Do you think I should contact the dealer about this?

It is not yet fully broken in and there is nothing the dealer can do. Try getting more miles on it, especially some under varying loads (60 - 100 on the highway), and see where you are at 5k - 7K miles.. it should stop consuming oil.

I have 2300 miles on mine. I Have used about 1/3 of a quart. Make sure you allow a few minutes for the oil to drain back down into the block before you check it or you will get a low reading.

If you VTEC allot, you will use more oil than if you don't VTEC. I have over 11K miles on mine, and I still use oil, especially when I autocross.

Your car will use more oil in the first 5-7k miles. this is normal according to honda while the car "breaks in'. Just monitor your oil level and keep it between the xxxxx w/10w30. change it at 3,750 and make sure you use 10w30. I just had this experience so this is how i know. Be sure u use at least 5.5 qts no more no less. check your oil level at every other full tank at least.

good luck
