Default Bent brake hard line? Replace or bend back?

I'm looking at a car right now that wants stainless steel lines. I've quickly discovered the car was in a major accident as hinted by the welds around the rear left quarter panel that was replaced. Crazy I know.

The rear driver's side brake hard line is bent to the point where I can't back the bolt out. The damage doesn't look too bad. I'm wondering if anyone has had luck bending hardlines or I should try replacing the line. I can get a replacement line but it looks like quite a pain in the ass to replace. I tried to look up the procedure in the FSM and it is not even talked about AFAIK.

Not being able to edit posts is getting really old. How long does it take the team here to do a forum migration? sigh

Man, I don't know if you can do it without lowering the front subframe, and pulling the rear subframe TBH. I don't advocate doing it but cutting re-flaring and trying to couple it to the hose seems to be an option. I've never done this on this car, mostly on old american cars and that's a PITA enough.

UPDATE: I was able to bend the hardline enough so that I could back off the flare nut enough to remove the soft line. Stainless steel line went on without any drama, however it is not as secure as it would be if that bracket was in place....

The flare nut was damaged to the point where I could not get the 10mm flare nut wrench on. I ended up using vice grips.

Seems the clip is missing from indentation in brake line. No?

Correct. Didn't really know what to do about that since the bracket is all bent.

Think you need to do some bending and body work, on that bracket. Get hose to fit without any stress on it. IIRC, clip should align, straight-on, with slot on hose before fitting clip.

Good luck!
