I am looking at picking up a 2000-S and was given some information i'm kind of leary of. So I thought I'd get this forums opinions. I was told that the engine on said car failed a compression check after a check engine light came on. I was told that after investigating the dealership had to replace bent valves, shave the deck, and some other minor head work, but that the pistons looked great. I'm no mechanic - but when valves get bent isn't there ussually damage to the pistons also? What would cause valves to bend but not cause piston damage? Just overrevving it?

Just my advice... Don't buy it! you will always be worried about something being wrong any time you hear a weird noise... you will sleep better at night

Run away actually!

 

I've seen a car just recently with 2 bent valves...the piston tops were barely nicked...definitely not bad enough to worry about.
