i see alot of flames coming from this thread. I like mugen's and plan on purchasing their intake sometime this summer, its all carbon fibre and looks really cool, the only problem is though is that you have to cut the inside of your hood for it to fit. As for gains i have no idea b/c no one ever did a dyno of just this intake on their car alone, people have said this intake is great in daily driving. Oh yeah it costs $1500

For some reason, I just can't justify spending $1500 on just an intake? I know its of superb quality and construction, but $1500!!!! I don't know about this one. Personally, I'd go with Mingster's or Spoon's CAI duct.

Since a lot of posts state the HP gain is negligible, why not save $1500 and stay stock. Unless you want to spend money.

imho the stock airbox is a CAI. When the cars in motion fresh air gets forced over the radiator into the airbox opening.

by this theory, most of intake is CAI...!!
I'd say stock air box is pretty good design..
but, if you think about this, if the air don't go thru radiator, will the air be colder?

D - you should study the intakes on other performance cars and even non-performance cars out there. none of them that I'm aware of have anything like the S2000's intake. not one that I can think of would come close to being a cold air intake.

best intake? its personal preference with various trade offs for each, some being dollars, and some being noises. its really up to you and the numbers out there. but honestly, even if one shows a few HP's more than the other, it will not be by much. most CAI's function at speeds over 70 or 80 mph, and they do it very well. its VERY DIFFICULT to dyno a CAI.

I hate to burst your bubble but as good as the stock intake is, it is not a CAI. Read the following threads and you'll see why. As a result of this experiment, the "radmat" and the insulated intake tube came into being.
