Default Best way to check for axle problems?

Long story short, the car is vibrating under acceleration and during higher speed driving. During higher speeds, it's very rhythmic, a couple seconds vibration, couple smooth. I thought I just needed a set of hubcentric rings, but that's not the case. I just got new wheels and tires, but I noticed it a few weeks before w/ my OEM rims and tires. BTW, the car has 99k mi and has been lowered almost the whole time. Does it sound like a broblem w/ the axles or something else? What's the best way to check and know for sure? Thanks!

Vibration on acceleration is frequently due to the inner CV joints pitting on the normally loaded surface. There's a TSB on it but you're way out of warranty so I think you'd have a hard time getting it fixed for free. Some folks have removed both joints and swapped them side-for-side so what used to be the face loaded during reverse is now used for forward. Free parts, just labor...

Yeah, could well be the CVs; here's my thread on it:

Other possibilities would have been a bent or unbalanced rim, but since you noticed it on two sets of rims that's unlikely. You might also check for play in the hub bearings: jack up a corner and see if you can find any play in the hub by attempting to "rock" it back and forth (both left-right and up-down).

Thanks for the advice. I have the 100k extended warranty, but because of all the suspension mods it probably won't be covered. I'll take it in anyway and see what they say.

What did Honda say about it? I've got the shakes at 32k miles and have aftermarket shocks and springs.

Just to let you know....I had the vibration so bad I could not see out of my mirrors when accelerating. I thought it was the diff and everything other that the C/V joints. I took them apart yesterday and did the swap from left to right and the vibration is gone 98%.
I had a big ass pits in both the left and right C/V. I am going to upgrade soon but I just got at least another 6 months out of them for basically free.... Try doing the swap it only take 1 hour if you have a helper to get the bearings back in right......
Hope this helps.............
Kenny
