Timing chain on our cars simply do not wear out, unless someone used an aftermarket tct, and its setup incorrectly.

There are many people with well over 200k miles, many over 300k, and at least one well over 400k. None have replaced chain.

Further, while replacing tct is all of 15 min (5 if you've done it before), replacing chain is very involved. Significant engine disassembly required.

 

I appreciate your insight. I will shift my focus exclusively to the TCT replacement and familiarize myself with how to do it as well, given it will be my first experience with this kind of maintenance.

 

When you're done you're going to think " that was easy, why was I so reluctant"!
