Default Black zinc plated brake rotors

On rotors coated with black zinc will braking cause the coating to wear away? I'm asking because if this is true then the black zinc will still be in the slots/dimples and it would look nice.

Any coating will eventually be worn away as the rotors are consumed over time due to braking.

Not sure about the dimples tho

my zinc coating on my brembos (looks exactly like the ones on the bottom there) wore off after i used em for like the first time.

might stay black in the middle though because no contact is being made there. dunno if the heat will make it go away though.

If you get them very hot the zinc will melt away. I toasted my zinc plated rotors with some R-4 pads at Laguna Seca a couple years back. It coated the insides of the wheels.

You could just get non zinc plated rotors and paint the hub and outside of the disc where no contact is made with the pads using hi temp paint.

Edit* The melting point of zinc is 785*F.
