Default Blinker Relay Removal. HELP!

I’ve seen several threads here about how difficult it is to remove the blinker relay from the under dash fuse box. I have no working rear turn signals and I’ve been trying to troubleshoot the issue and my next step is replacing the relay but it is fighting back. I just spent 30 minutes in a light drizzle trying to get it out and had no luck. I’m about ready to put my fist through the windshield. I saw Modifry’s post on the relay, but the pics are no longer available and he doesn’t describe exactly how to get the damn relay out. Can someone help? PLEASE!!!!!

Look for clips on the sides and/or squeeze the relay sides. I broke mine forcing it out. Perhaps these photos will provide clues.

That damn thing was designed to be unnecessarily difficult to remove. After about an hour total of struggling I finally got it out by using a knife to snap off the tab on on side. Got the new relay in but unfortunately it didn’t fix my initial problem. The struggle continues. Thanks though Chuck S, I appreciate your help.

hey! I’m having the same issue, did you find a solution? Neither of my rear blinkers works at all.

Look at the photo above. See where the 2 tabs are located? Get yourself 2 flathead screwdrivers (or plastic pry tools) and situate them between those 2 clips at the same time. Then use a rocking and pulling motion wiggle it free (don't be afraid to use some force). The tabs are completely unnecessary as the relay is secure just from the friction of the mating of the spades into the sockets of the fuse box....This is an unnecessarily frustrating job, but not impossible if approached properly.
