I have an 01 with about 105k miles. And tonight as I was going home from work, the car at first idled roughly then the CEL popped and blinked for a while. I immediatley parked the car and checked the Oil and though its low, its not under the Minimum mark line.


Im going to have it towed at a repair shop nearby, but do you guys have any idea what it could be?

BTW, there's no knocking or eweird noises coming from the engine other than the rough idle/vibration the car makes.

 

That blinking CEL indicates severe misfire with the potential to damage the catalytic converter. Good move on having it towed.

Any recent mis-shifts?

Sometimes it can be a bad coilpack or spark plug. Sometimes the spark plug can vibrate loose and blow out the top of your head... ask me how I know....

If the car was nearby, I'd pull the coilpacks and plugs as an easy first step. You should of course, also check the CEL code.

 

it happened to me once on an onramp, toward the end of it the road had a slight drop and well with lowered cars and stiffer suspension it is sensitive, i hit it and the cel blinked n the car was shaky.

pulled over n shut it off. looked around and took out the plugs and put it back together, same problem. checked the hoses, cables, wires...nothing.

...until i checked the injector harness, one of the clips wasnt in all the way and was misfiring cyl 1...damn! thats all it was. it did sound like a boxer engine though.

check the plugs and injector harness.
