Default Blower and wastegate

Hello gang! New to the forum and new to the world of the S2K, so I've got a few ?'s

First off, I've read the issue about the idle and the engine searching for it's happy spot. This has something to do with that...

1. In the morning, and sometimes after the motor warms up and in traffic, when the engine idle drops, acting like it's about to stall or die, it sounds like an aux. fan kicks in to bring more air into the engine to help with the idle. Is this the case and if so, where is the blower motor?

2. When I push the car hard, and rev it a bit high, when backing off the gas to shift, it sounds like there is a waste-gate that is relieving pressure somewhere. What is this and where is it, and what is it really doing and why???

Thanks for all of your help in advance!

1. You are hearing the air pump run, it's normal and has no performance enhancement other than warming up the catalytic
convertor.

2. Unless you have a turbocharger, there is no wastegate anywhere on the car.

I understand that the car is naturally aspirated, yet it has a sound like that of a wastegate. Again, after hard acceleration, when I lift to put the clutch in and shift gears, it really sounds like there is pressure being relieved from the engine.

I'm trying to understand what this is and what is causing this sound. It doesn't produce any adverse affects to the cars performance, and the car doesn't lag in any way. Could it be an engine management "safety"?

Find another local owner a go for a ride in both of your cars. If they both make the noise you hear, it's normal.
