Default Blown MOtor

Okay peoples heres the deal. I bought my car one month ago. I drove this car about three weeks and now the car is in my garage unuseable. Basically im down 19000.00 ohhh well im over it. So heres my questions. 1) i bought a block (300.00) and a head(100.00) i still dont know if the head is good but ill post pics and maybe someone can help. I still need to take it to a machine shop so i can get it tested. If all is well with the head i would like to change -valve/ intake and exhaust, valve springs and retainers, rocker arm and pistons. i would like to change this so that in the next 5yrs i wont have this problem again. but the problem that i have is that i have no idea how to buyy these items and where to buy them. Pertaining to the block,i need new pistons (thats a given). But i have heard that f-motors need some kind of special lubrications that honda sells. Now does anyone know what kind of silicone lubrications do i need. Also, if anyone can point me in the right direction to a build like this thanks

If you are asking these kinds of questions, a shop should be building your motor.

It's true what they say.

But I'm assuming you are going to take it to a shop but you just want to make sure they are doing the right stuff.

Get the head checked for straightness. If it's within the serviceable limit then have it machined and cleaned up. You can port and polish if you like and use oversized valves but these will add to the cost, not the reliability. Supertech and Ferrea make ovesized valves if I remember correctly. Should be able to get springs and retainers from them too. Personally unless you are going FI I'd suggest sticking with Honda parts.

Now if the block needs pistons you either go for stock or sleeve the block and use aftermarket. If the cylinders are damaged even slightly your only option is the latter.

Other things you will need are rings and bearings.

I rebuilt an engine earlier this year and I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself unless you have someone skilled and experienced to look over you.

Damage like that I'd just get a replacement engine secondhand.

Definately dont attempt to do this yourself if you dont know what your doing. Also what exactly happened to the engine? You have to know whats wrong before you just start replacing stuff. I have a feeling you being new to the s2k that you mis-shifted, over-revved and bent the valves in which case you wont have to replace the block or the head.

The 2nd most likely reason that s2k engines go are because they are run low on oil and get spun rod bearings and need a new bottom end.

Diagnose the problem before you just go around replacing the entire engine.

^^this is what happened

What's the cost of parts/labor to fix this? I am NOT going to try to fix this myself, just wondering so I can start ordering and have someone else do it.

Theres really no way to tell till you the block out. If I were you I would just try to find a used block from a member on here, and just replace the entire bottom end. It will probably be the cheapest way.

Why did the engine blow?

If the car is otherwise stock...just buy a swap for it. Factory assmbled engines are much nicer than machine shop assembled most of the time.

You can buy a longblock for probably like $3500 somewhere...if not less.
