all i know is sometimes, when i am about to stop at a light, and i try to shift to 1st, it is almost impossible, or i have to force it.. so i think it does limit how much you can do. i have never tried shifting from 6-4 but ended at 2... but i have gone 1-2-6 before.. i suck..

btw.......on 6-speed corvette or camaro late models, there is the so called CAGS, or something like that[COMPUTERIZED AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT] that forces a 1st to 4th shift at low speeds. its used to "improve"
gas mileage or avoid gas guzzler tax(even though a C5 gets better gas mileage then a S2K!!!).

u can override it by flooring the accelerator...but some people disable with a cheap fix(dummy resistor or somthing). HOWEVER, it also serves a less well known function and prevents the dreaded over-rev downshift.....pretty cool.....it mechanically locks out gear if revs too high. go take a test drive in a new Z06 and CHECK IT OUT....LOOK MA,...NO BLOWN LS-6 MOTOR, DARN!!!

so if u disable it, u also disable this little known protective function. American Ingenuity
