bogging at 8k?

Default bogging at 8k?

I purchased my s2000 about a week now and tonight I've finally gotten a chance to go on a spirited 2nd gear onto the freeway with long entrance stretch with no cars in sight.

I gassed it up to about 8k and all of a sudden it felt like fuel cutoff or (overrev without warning)and it bogged, so immediately i let it back into neutral and let off the gas.

I safely exited the freeway and went home. =/ On the way home, I had noticed nothing wrong with the car as far as the sound goes...

CEL came on and I'm about to go run the code.
I searched amongst the forums but have not found a possible solution to my problem =/

please advise =[

ps the engine is stock with k&n drop in filter.

If it was at 7k I'd say that the engine wasn't warmed up enough but even then you'd have to live pretty close to the onramp...

p1259 - vtec system malfunction =[

it seems as if it comes on randomly..
i pulled second gear just right now to 8.5 and it was fine..but at 3rd..it bogged...?_?

any ideas?

vtec solenoid?

i even changed my oil and filter again today just in case it was my oil pressure/level...

mobil 1 synthetic 5w30

seems like it could be a few things...after i searched the cel code..

so imma run a few test on tuesday on my day off and see what i could come up with
ill try to keep everyone updated..

as for now..any other suggestions..

so far i have on my list of to do:
check oil pressure/level
check vtec solenoid wiring
check the screen between the vtec solenoid wires
change air filter
check spark plugs

hahhahhaha that sure would suck..

but i was able to brg it up to 8 and half on one of the gears...

i added more oil because it was a tad bit below the range..and im cleaning the air filter tonite after work..and then on with another test drive

well see how it goes

If the VTEC is not engaging then the car would run out fo power at the higher revs. The low RPM cam is not engineered to power the car at high RPMs efficiently.

it seems like it comes on when it wants to..and doesnt when it feels otherwise..

any suggestions on what i should do?
