Default Boost, Air/Fuel Gauges Digital Installation Instructions?

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get instructions on how to install Auto Meter Cobalt digital gauges for Boost and Air/Fuel? Thank you.

So far I could not get any help with instruction on installing the digital gauges so I called a local tuner shop and they quoted me $250 to install the boost and Air/Fuel gauges. Could someone help me please? Where do I need to connect the Boost and where do I need to connect the Air/Fuel?

I might be wrong, but I think the Air/Fuel stuff connects to your ECU. My friend installed an A/F gauge on his car and I'm pretty sure I saw him connecting it to the ECU. I'll ask another friend of mine tonight about the boost gauge because I wouldn't know. Wesmaster has a boost gauge installed in his car I believe, you should drop him a PM and ask him. Try asking Jenner as well, very helpful person.

Re: Boost Gauge connection
The reason I ask is that if you tap the MAP wires they reading will never be right. This is because the check valve is designed to hide boost from the MAP sensor. So, an electronic gauge may not be the best solution with the Comptech, or even Vortech, system. I may be incorrect, I'm just speaking logically. I don't see how the gauge could ever read the correct boost with this setup. Now, a mechanical boost gauge, on the other hand, reads the actual air pressure - this is what I have. You might want to post this in Under the Hood to confirm.

Jenner,

Could you explain how you connected your electrical gauge? Thanks,

I don't think Jenner is running an electric Boost gauge. He's using an Autometer and if so its probably the same mechanicals as the Autometer Phantom in my car. Any how, the Autometer boost gauge uses a tap in a manifold vaccum line to measure boost. If you have anything semblent of the Stock ECU an electric Boost gauge will be useless.

The A/F gauge needs to T-Tap your O2 Sensor wire.

Both gauges need "inginition on" power and ground for illumination.

I have GReddy electric fuel pressure gauge and Boost gauge as well as Apex'i auto timer which does voltage, o2 and air/fuel(all info comes from ECU for this unit).

GReddy gauges come with all hardware needed to do the install. I placed the sensors in the engine bay in the correct spots. Boost sensor taps off a boost line, then wires run from the sensor thru the firewall to the GReddy box which is under my dash. This box gets 12v constant(red), 12v ignition(orange) ground(black), 12v parking lights(white) and optional yellow for external warning light or beeper. Also the wires from the engine plug into the box. Then another wire bundle with connector comes out of the box and goes to my gauge. Ditto for fuel pressure except instead of taping into the boost line a fuel line is tapped.

The auto timer gets wired into power, ignition(special for shut off timer features), parking brake wire, ground(ecu ground) and also taps into the o2 sensor on the ECU from which it computs air/fuel and o2 readings.

Hope this helps.

So, the electronic gauge is reading off of the black Vortech box...that makes sense. Not much sc can do w/ an electronic gauge since he has the Comptech kit - unless he taps into the Comptech ESM (if he has one).
