Bottom end of spark plug fell in cylinder...

Default Bottom end of spark plug fell in cylinder...

*********Edit: Well it turns out it didn't fall out, I just have the end of the compression tester stuck on the bottom of my plug haha. Sorry for any confusion!**********


Hello guys, the other day I was performing a compression test on the car. When I was finished I began putting the spark plugs back in and noticed cylinder 2's wasn't threading very smooth. I tried another and it was the same but foolishly, I figured since it was still threading it was fine. After putting all the plugs in I noticed cylinder 2's coilpack wasn't fitting in for some reason. I took it out and took the plug out. When i finally removed the plug, the bottom end of it was gone, and I can only assume it fell into the cylinder... The only thing I can think to do I get a magnet and try to fish it out because it broke from the bottom of the threads down so there's still a metal piece attached to the actual tip of the plug. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to do. Any advice? I know this is a bad blunder on my part and can't stop beating myself up over it. It's quite embarrassing but asking others who know about the car is the only way besides dropping loads of money into it which isn't easy right now. Thanks guys.

There is something going on with that plug, looks like an anti-fouler is threaded on the end or part of your compression tester? there should not be a rubber o-ring on the plug and I can see the spark plug washer on top of whatever the plug is threaded into.

This! You are missing nothing, you unthreaded the compression tester and threaded the plug into that! That is why the coil wouldn't fit. Your picture is a perfectly good plug threaded into the end of a compression tester

I would check the threads on the 2 plugs that you threaded in though to be sure you didn't goof the threads up on the plug. I am not sure if the tester and plug are the same thread size, which is why it may have felt odd

It would be kind of hard to do a compression test if the tester adapter and the spark plug didn't have the same thread, wouldn't it?

Wow guys... you're right haha. I feel pretty dumb now. REALLY dumb. Now its just a matter of getting that end off because its on there pretty good. What would be the best way to do that.

The tester adapter threads into the head, the tester then threads into the adaptor, it doesn't have to be the same thread. I will check mine, but I want to say mine is noticeably smaller, I could be wrong though.

Got it! Just used two wrenches to take it off of the plug. Thanks for the help, guess I'll know next time haha.
