Default Brake help

My pads were worn all of the way down, so i take them out, leaving one in and using a c clamp to push the piston in, and it wont budge. I cranked the c clamp as hard as I could using extra leverage, but to no avail. Any advice on what to do? These are the front calipers btw

You can crack the bleeder valve. You will need to bleed the brakes if you do that...at least that one caliper anyway.

I was going to bleed them anyway, so I might as well. I'll give it a shot tomorrow

if its the rears you need to twist and push. thats clockwise by the way.

and even if its the fronts, if they are over extended you may never get them back in.

Well the pads were all of the way worn, so they are out pretty far. And yes, it is the fronts. Why would they never go back in? Do I need to get the caliper rebuilt? what is the best course of action?

sounds like you popped the piston in your caliper, in that case you'll need to remover the whole unit off the car sometimes and just play with it a little bit (twisting motion) and it'll go back in. just be patient and make sure that the dust boot around the piston stay where it suppose to and not under when your pushing it back. or you can just go out and buy another one if you wanna do it the easy way. good luck on it.

I gave it a noble attempt fiddling with it, but they still won't go in. On both sides, there are tears in the rubber dust boot cover, so I'm thinking that let some dirt in, preventing the pistons from sliding back in. In that case, im getting them rebuilt.

If there is a tear in the rubber dust boot cover, the piston could probably have developed rust and seized in the bore. You will need to either rebuild the caliper or get a new one.

Thats what I'm thinking... I'm going to get them rebuilt, hopefully under warranty.
